Scavengers of the Carbon Waste

About the Author

From Rendezvous with Rama toThe Adventures of Tom Swift, I’ve always enjoyed science fiction. Azimov, Heinlein, Bradbury, Herbert, Hubbard, martians, mayhem, or the Millennium Falcon and I’m there. I also very much enjoy Dickens and Austen (Jane, that is. Gasp!), and North & South (both the book and the BBC mini series). I’ve read quite a few old turn-of-the-20th-century western novels in the last few years, and have to admit to being a fan of many of the recent superhero movies.

Why do I tell you all this? Because this is about me, the author. And how better for you, the reader, to get to know me than by the thing we have most in common – books.

To be more specific, I like the tried-and-true hero/damsel-in-distress/evil-villain-that-gets-his-comeuppance-combination, and a good happy ending. Uriah Heep comes to mind. Mix in some humor in the face of calamity, a little tragedy, and we’re well on our way to something interesting.

While I’m sharing, I will also mention that I like cookbooks. Because I enjoy cooking. A lot. Which is a good thing since I also enjoy eating, probably too much.

But just so you don't get the idea that I spend all my time in the kitchen reading about the sisters Bennet, I must point out that I still have a fascination for motorcycles, cars, trucks, and machinery in general, hold degrees in both art and diesel mechanics, and can usually face down a spider with little fear. And yes, I do in fact, own a chainsaw. Vroom.

So now that you know a little more about me than you may have wanted, I will wrap up by saying it is my sincerest hope that you enjoy the Black Sand story and illustrations as much as I have. If you do, I shamelessly ask that you share, post, or blog about it, and use the contact form on this site to let me know what you think about the book, illustrations, or this web site.

Thank you
